Chicks hatching

This is the first of 19 eggs in the incubator. This chick has been working for several hours, and has cracked almost completely around the shell. Now it just needs to gather enough strength to push the end of the shell off and it is free.

This video is of a coturnix quail chick hatching. Partway through, another quail runs by as if to say, “Hey! I want to be in the movie too!”
