Menu Plan Monday

It’s supposed to be really hot here the beginning of this week so I’m trying to avoid using the oven. I love my crockpot!

Sunday: crockpot chicken breast, carrots, and cauliflower

Monday: tacos (meat is already made and in the freezer)

Tuesday: crockpot sesame chicken, brown rice

Wednesday: BLT’s

Thursday: grilled chicken breast over tossed salads

Friday: pizza night

Saturday: BBQ chicken with homemade BBQ sauce

The meals without veggies listed we’ll just decide then which veggie to eat from the freezer.

Breakfasts are smoothies, eggs, oatmeal, biscuits, and scones.

Lunches are sandwiches, wraps, macaroni and cheese, and leftovers.

Snacks are cheese, baby carrots, nuts, and fresh fruit.

Lost his first tooth

Ok, so he’s not really toothless, but he’s too cute not to share. Samuel lost his first tooth today. . .and even let me pull it for him.

Meet Bruno

Stephen brought this little guy home today. Isn’t he cute? He’s a boxer and lab mix and we named him Bruno.

Puppy

He was an outside dog, so won’t be allowed in the house much until he’s had another flea bath or two. Even then I’m not convinced I want an indoor dog – the kids don’t need any help making messes. ;) I did let him inside long enough for a bath, but then he went back outside.

For now, he’ll sleep in a crate on the porch. The kids had a blast watching him this evening.

Watching the puppy

If it weren’t for his crate, I highly doubt Bruno would get much sleep at all with my three around him!

pulling up on hearth

Anna is now crawling all over the house and is pulling up on things. Right now her favorite thing to do is pull up on the hearth. I’m glad she’s learning to do new things, but she really keeps me on my toes lately too!

Feminine Friday

Feminine dress

The past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to dress in a more feminine manner. It’s been fun.

The picture above was my outfit on Wednesday. I love the top because it doesn’t wrinkle. ;) The outfit as a whole is a lot dressier than the plain tees I used to wear.

I’ve been scouring my favorite thrift store looking for dressier tops. By buying a couple at a time, it’s been fairly easy to stay within our clothing budget. My flared denim skirt is still my main bottom piece – I like it and how it fits and am really not sure what else I’d like to wear.

Another thing I’m trying to do is make sure that I look nice – doing my hair and makeup – instead of just looking presentable. It’s so easy to just pull my hair into a sloppy ponytail. It’s funny how taking just a little bit more time can make me look and feel so much better.

My friend Michaela mentioned wanting to “lose the frump.” That’s what I’ve been trying to do. My old tees just didn’t look pretty. Modest, yes. Pretty and feminine, no.

Last time I posted about femininity several people mentioned how it is something that can vary greatly from person to person. I agree. What looks nice and feminine on one person may look perfectly awful on someone else. My mom and I are a perfect example of this – what looks nice on her doesn’t suit me. One of my goals is to find clothing that fits well and suits me. Not just passably, but things that look really nice.

It is not my intent to turn this into a fashion thing at all. I do think it would be nice to see what efforts other women are making to dress more femininely though. If you make any changes yourself – leave me a link to your blog. I’d love to read about what others are doing. It would be great to see what others are doing.

Just look what God has done for me

This morning the kids and I stopped by our local crisis pregnancy center. I counseled there years ago, before Samuel was ever born. Everyone knew we longed for a baby. I left when we started the adoption process.

I stopped in today just to show what God has done for me. He sent us Samuel, then as a bonus, allowed us to have Caleb and Anna too. But I couldn’t help but think of how God used a tiny little baby like Samuel to bring me to Himself – to see that God and God alone could fill that emptiness in my life. . .now that is huge. I sure don’t deserve it, but I sure am thankful for it.

Just look at what God has done for me!
