He got the job!

HE GOT THE JOB! Not only did he get the job – he got a managerial position!!!!! WOO HOO! Can you tell I’m pumped?

He goes for training on Wednesday. So right now, the plans are for me to leave first thing tomorrow morning (as in 5 or 6 am) and drive home. That way I can stop tomorrow (Tuesday) night at a hotel if I need to and still make it home in time for church Wednesday night. Then I have lessons on Thursday.

As for DH staying here, there are two families that have already volunteered to house him for the next couple of days. What a huge blessing!

I will go home and pack like CRAZY in order to get back up here as soon as possible. I need to give my students all one more lesson for the month and then I will be free to leave. We are still trying to sell our house, and I have no idea what we will do in that area.

If you think of it, please pray for me tomorrow. I’ve never driven more than 5 hours or so alone, and I will be doing it in my ’89 van through the Smokies alone with Little man – who hates to travel! Please pray for us! It’s supposed to take 10 1/2 hours……it took us 12 on the way here because we were so tired. I am hoping to get home tomorrow night, but going into things fully expecting to need to stop. Please pray for our safety and my sanity!

I’ll update more when I get home. Lord willing, though, the trip will be uneventful and nothing will happen!

Interview today

Stephen is getting ready to leave right now; he has an interview in about 45 minutes. YAY! The nice thing about this place is that they want him to start immediately. I’m not sure how that would all work out if he’s hired, but it is encouraging that he has an interview.

We spent all Friday putting in applications and resumes, and today after the interview Stephen will put in more resumes (unless he’s hired on the spot, of course).

Depending on what happens at the interview today, our tentative plans are to leave here by around 8 or 9 this evening so we can drive through the night again. The drive in North Carolina and Tennessee is absolutely beautiful! We both agreed that when we move, we’ll have to stop off at the Smoky Mountain National Park sometimes – we go right by the exit for it when we drive through!

Anyways, just wanted to update y’all!

And again…

January 18, 2006 at 9:27 pm in Miracles

Wow! Wow! Wow! Is God EVER providing!

After church tonight Stephen handed me another check and told me to take a look at it. Let’s just say that God laid it on someone’s heart to help us out in our ministry…to the tune of waaaay more than I was praying for!

We are leaving tomorrow to take a quick trip to IN to turn in some applications (that can’t be done online) and to check out a house that we’ve heard about. It will be a very quick trip, but we weren’t sure how we were going to be able to swing it. So, we prayed that God would provide. We had estimated the cost for gas, and I pretty much had a set dollar amount in mind, although I was just praying that God would provide.

Did He ever! Now we can rest assured that our entire trip is completely paid for. We don’t have a thing to worry about.

Wow! I am SO excited!

God is providing again

I love it! It has been so neat to just sit back and watch as God provides for us.

I’m not one to just go out and shop for things for myself, especially clothing. If I need something pretty badly, I will go get it, but I’m not one to just go clothes shopping. Sunday at church, a lady came up to me saying she had a dress for me. I said, “okay” and left it at that. She brought it Sunday night, but I accidentally left it at church when we went home.

When I was there yesterday for lessons, I grabbed it and took it home with me, intending to try it on and maybe wear it today.

It’s a brown microfiber jumper, and it fits perfectly! Even better – there are no slits to mess with! I don’t like to mess with them – since I’m tall, most dresses with slits usually have the slit end up mid-thigh, and then I have to sew it shut at least partially to make it modest. This jumper had no slits – AND it was the perfect length too! I almost forgot – it’s VERY comfortable! :thumbup_tb: I used to wear a lot of jumpers like this, but I don’t have them anymore (you know, that whole get-married-gain-weight thing, lol!). It was nice to look in the mirror and see me wearing a style that I used to like so well.

Stephen just called me a few moments ago as well. He’s been doing some repair work over at his folks’ house, and they paid him today. Right when we needed the money for bills.

It has been absolutely amazing to see how God is providing for us, when things have seemed impossible. Stephen is unemployed, and yet each time, we’ve had the money to pay our bills. It reminds me of when I attended PCC. All through college I watched as friends had their bills miraculously paid; and I was jealous. I didn’t understand why those things never happened to me. I don’t know God’s reasoning for that – but I do know that He is providing for us now, and in mighty ways. We serve such an AWESOME God!

Have to take the license test again…

January 17, 2006 at 9:17 pm in Moving,Slice of Life

I just looked up the driver’s license laws for Indiana…

We have to take the written test again! I’m a bit aggravated! Really, I’m more worried about failing it, lol! Wouldn’t that be a sight – a 26-year-old woman failing her license test? Thankfully, they have their driver’s manual online, so I can start studying now…

Bloglines.com

January 13, 2006 at 7:13 pm in Techie Stuff

Amber was wanting to know which service I use to read blogs. It’s Bloglines.com. Very convenient!

The easiest way (for me, anyways) was to put the “Sub with Bloglines” button into my Favorites/Bookmarks folder. That way I didn’t have to enter any web addresses manually – I just went to the website, and then clicked Sub with Bloglines, and it took me right to the right page in Bloglines.

It really is a wonderful service. I also installed their notifier; but it’s not like that’s mandatory or anything. It does make things easier for me, though.

Hope that helps!

The realtor came today

at 6:49 pm in Moving

What a visit! Selling a house for the first time is a little intimidating. But we had a good talk with her, and asked a TON of questions. We told her we’d think about it and let her know. It was nice to get questions answered, and we were also able to find out the current market value of our home (which we were really wondering about).

So now we talk and pray and wait. I wonder what God has planned for us…

Well…

I think I got the new ISP working! (It better work – I just sent out the “This is our new email address” email to everyone in my address book!)

Wow…I can only imagine how frustrating it would be if I didn’t know what I was doing…good grief – some days I wonder if I really know what I’m doing anyways! Ha!

So basically – if you didn’t get my email today and you were supposed to – send me an email by clicking the “Email Melody” link over to the left side of the blog here. I’ll reply and give you my new address.

ISP issues

Who would have thought that switching our ISP would be an issue? I certainly didn’t!

We figured that we could switch to a provider that offered service both here and in IN – so that we had one less thing to deal with after the move.

The first provider I tried actually messed up something in my email program (Incredimail)! First, it was denying access to the port it uses to send email. The tech support guy basically told me that I was wrong and that there was nothing wrong with their software. If that’s so, then how come I didn’t have a SINGLE problem until I installed their software??? When I wanted to cancel the account, they gave me 3 months free. That’s nice, but I still can’t get it to work today.

So just now I downloaded another ISP’s software. So far – it doesn’t work either! Grrrrr… I’m still looking at their software to make sure I don’t have it configured incorrectly…

So, I’m back, connected to BellSouth again to troubleshoot. Good thing I didn’t cancel it yesterday like I was intending to! Thing is…..I just went to use Incredimail and it told me there was a file missing…so I’m downloading it again to see if that will fix the problem.

And to think…Stephen wanted me to work on laundry this afternoon…and here I sit…

(guess I better go finish the laundry, huh?)
