"Are you trouble?"

November 22, 2005 at 12:26 am in Slice of Life

I was sharing this over at HP earlier, and I thought y’all might get a kick out of it too.

I had an interesting (and hilarious!) conversation with Little man tonight. I was washing dishes, and he was sitting on the floor about 8 feet away from me drinking and playing with his sippie.

“Are you trouble?”
“No”
I giggled. Then he started laughing at himself – he thought he was pretty hot stuff!

So I asked him again, “Are you trouble?”
Another “No” and another giggle from him.

“Are you a stinker?”
“No”

“Are you a goofball?”
“No”

“Are you Mommy’s boy?”
Silence.

“Are you Daddy’s boy?”
Giggle.

At this point I was pretty curious what he’d say “No” to so I started to ask some other questions.

“Do you want a baby sister to play with?”
“Baby?”
“Yes, baby. Do you want a baby sissie?”
“Baby?”

“Do you want a brother to play with?
“No”

I guess we better put in an order for a baby sister for him, huh?????? HA!

"Kok-eet"

You know what that is, don’t you?

CHOCOLATE! :chocolate_ms:

My son learned how to say chocolate today! Ok, sure, it does sound like “Kok-eet” but you know what? He’s trying. Now my Little man knows Mommy’s favorite word! Ha!

The first chick is hatching!

We were just getting ready to go to bed when Stephen heard chirping!

My parents bought Stephen an incubator for Christmas. They wanted to see the look on his face when he opened it, and since we’re flying up there, they couldn’t give it to him up there (MI). So when Mom and Dad visited last, they bought the incubator and gave it to him then.

Stephen immediately put eggs in it.

Well, today was day 21. We knew it would be soon. I’ve been watching and checking on it all day, wondering when the little baby would come out to play. (LOL!)

Now, here it is, an hour and a half later than we usually go to bed, and we’re up watching the chick hatch.

Awwwwwwww.

We have some Rhode Island Red chicks that are supposed to hatch by the end of the week. I hope both of them hatch – our Red rooster is dying! We’re not exactly sure what is wrong with him, but he is very sick. So knowing that we have some purebred Red chicks is a little reassuring.

Stephen’s practically hovering over that incubator!

“Come on out, little chick!”

Ironic meeting

November 20, 2005 at 11:39 pm in Slice of Life

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home from church tonight so I could pick up a pregnancy test. I grabbed a 2-pack of First Response. (Before you assume that I’m pregnant, I’ll let you know that I have to test every month due to a certain medication that I take)

How’s this for irony………….I used to counsel at our local Crisis Pregnancy Center. Well, I quit because we were adopting, and the adoption was considered a ‘conflict of interest’ with counselling.

Tonight, my cashier was a lady that I was helping to train to counsel. She looked at the test and said, “But I thought you were adopting!” I said, “We did! He’s 18mo old now” Her reply? “Well, it just has to be positive now” Typical response………..but she was really nice about it and was hoping it would be positive for us.

This particular grocery store spits out cash register coupons that are related to the product you’ve purchased. My lucky coupon? Boost Healthy Mom pregnancy shakes. A rather um, interesting coupon for someone who’s trying to see if she’s pregnant! The irony of the entire situation completely blows me away.

Wouldn’t that be ironic if it really was positive???????

I’ll be testing in the morning, but I’m not sure when I’ll post an update. If it is positive, there are several friends and family members that I’d want to tell in person before I announce it publicly!

My jewelry website is finished!

November 17, 2005 at 10:01 am in Techie Stuff

After many, many, many hours working on my jewelry website, I think I can finally announce that it is finished! At least for now, lol. There are always things I can add or revise, but I finally have it to a place where I can just leave it for a while.

It has been a real challenge learning some of the coding to do the website, especially when I first started with it. It’s been worth it, though. I’m very pleased with the final result.

You can view my updated website at Hope of My Heart Designs.

Down…

But not out! The devil has been attacking us so badly. It is amazing how when God’s people try to live right, the devil moves in to attack. Our church is beginning to go through revival, and Satan is not happy! He’s been on the rampage, and we’re one of the families that he hit this time.

I really have been around, but we have been so busy trying to get things in order that I have not had much time to write. To be honest, there hasn’t been a lot of things to blog about, really.

We have the boys from the home here, though. The director and his wife have been at the hospital for the past several days due to a family member being near death. We’ve had the boys so that they can be with their family without worrying about other things.

I don’t know if they boys will come home with Stephen tonight again or not. It’s just been a day-to-day thing. Stephen calls me when he gets word, and I plan accordingly.

The chickens have a back yard

November 14, 2005 at 10:48 pm in Farm and Garden,Pictures

Stephen and I finished putting up the rest of the fencing for the chicken yard today. It’s so big! It was so funny to watch the birds as they “escaped” out of the coop to the fenced-in run. They love their new-found freedom!

S decided he wanted to “help” us. What he was really doing was picking the boards up and throwing them at the chickens:

I just love this next one. The babies (they’re hardly babies anymore!) are not afraid of S at all. Many of them just let him walk up to them and pet them. Here, Stephen had moved the water can, and S decided to play in the water. I thought it was hilarious the way the birds climbed all over him! He enjoyed it quite a bit too.

Created to Be His Help Meet

Created to Be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl is a WONDERFUL book! I had read in many places here on the web about what a good book it was, but I wasn’t convinced. I knew next to nothing about the Pearls’ ministry. I wanted to find out for myself.

When I found out a lady from church had the book, I asked her if I could borrow it. Just a few chapters in it, I decided I liked the book. By the time I was done – I was convinced. I had to get my own copy. It turns out that some friends of ours knew how to get me a copy – their church buys them by the case and sells them.

I received my own copy on Saturday. I was so excited to find a good, solid “how to be a good wife” book that I flew through the copy I borrowed. Now that I have my own, I plan to re-read the book, taking notes this time.

If you’re a wife who hasn’t read Created to Be His Help Meet, you need to get a copy. After reading the book for one week and trying to make changes in how I relate to my husband, I got quite the confirmation that my efforts were paying off. Stephen came up to me and thanked me the other day. I had to ask him what he was talking about as I had no idea. “For all you’re trying to do to be a good wife.” Wow. I didn’t think I made that many changes, but he noticed.

And you know – I’ve enjoyed just about every minute of those changes too! It amazes me how one little change leads to another, and another, and another, and…

Maybe someday I’ll be able to be one of those Titus 2 women that all the younger ladies at church look up to and say, “I want to be just like her when I’m her age.”
