We had a meeting with Amy Miller yesterday. I really liked her on the phone, but in person she’s even better. She said we have a lot of qualities birthmoms look for: young, childless, dogs, own our home, land, me being adopted, etc. Yay! She told us she thought our paperwork would take us about a month, and the average time after that is about 6 months. It’s possible a year from now I’ll have a baby in my arms! And Ms. Bond can do our homestudy in a couple weeks! So maybe…we could have everything submitted by October! Wow.

I can’t believe just how fast things are happening. I called Link this morning and got to speak with Amy Miller. They have no age or marriage length requirement, just that the applicants be Christians. Amy gave me a phone number for a woman who does homestudies, and I’ve left a message on her machine. This weekend we even have a meeting with Amy at the Link office.
We’d like to have our homestudy done by Christmas. I think that’s a conservative estimate: from what I’ve heard they can take up to 3 months, and that gives us 4 months until Christmas. I don’t know if I dare hope to be matched or placed by then, because I know that the wait can be a year or more. I guess we’ll see.
We told our parents, and they’re all excited. Karen knows, and Preacher knows, but that’s it. We probably won’t tell anyone else until the homestudy is done. I want to shout it from the rooftops, but it’s too early. I keep thinking that our baby might already be in the womb!
I also bought the first thing for our baby yesterday. It’s a stuffed teddy bear that plays, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” It’s so cute – I just walk by it and think, “That’s for our baby!” It just doesn’t seem real sometimes!

I spent several hours today researching agencies. It seems like there’s a billion! I know Link is good, but I’m waiting for their info packet to arrive. Lifetime Facilitators looks great, but we’ll see.
My main prayer request is that we’ll find the right agency, and that God will make it very clear. There are so many. I’m also praying for our birthmother – that she’ll take good care of herself and our baby. I’m also praying that we’ll be a good witness.

We’ve been praying about adopting. So many “little things” have been pointing to adoption that we began praying if that’s what God wanted for us. After Wednesday’s sermon, we both felt God calling us to step out in faith and to pursue adoption. We’ve contacted the Link in NC for information, but it hasn’t arrived yet.

I’m just so excieted to think that our baby could have already been conceived!
